Knoch High School History by Jason M Bowen Butler PA

Knoch High School, located in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, has a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. Originally known as Saxonburg High School, it was established in 1907 as a two-year school. In 1916, the school expanded to become a four-year institution and was renamed Knoch High School in honor of George Knoch, a prominent local businessman and benefactor.

Throughout its history, Knoch High School has been committed to providing a quality education to its students. In the early years, the curriculum focused primarily on the basics, such as reading, writing, and arithmetic. However, as the needs of the community changed, so did the school's curriculum. In the 1950s, Knoch High School added vocational education programs to help students prepare for careers in fields such as carpentry, auto mechanics, and cosmetology.

Over the years, Knoch High School has undergone several renovations and expansions to accommodate the growing student population. In 1967, a new high school building was constructed, which included modern science labs, a gymnasium, and a library. In 1995, a new technology center was added, which provided students with access to the latest computer technology and software programs.

Knoch High School has also been a leader in extracurricular activities. The school has a strong tradition of athletic excellence, with numerous district and state championships in sports such as football, basketball, and track and field. The school also has a thriving music program, with a marching band, concert band, and choir that have earned accolades at regional and state competitions.

Today, Knoch High School continues to be a cornerstone of the Saxonburg community, providing a quality education to generations of students. The school's commitment to academic excellence, vocational education, and extracurricular activities has helped prepare students for success in college, careers, and life. As Knoch High School looks to the future, it remains dedicated to continuing this tradition of excellence for many years to come.
